Angel of the LORD. The identity of the angel of the Lord is debated. According to some scholars, the angel of the Lord appears in many instances to be a theophany, a visual manifestation of God Himself (e.g., 18:1-33; 22:11-18; 32:24-30; Ex. 3:2-6), though the angel of the Lord is sometimes distinguished from God in other cases (e.g., 21:17). Hagar's remarks in v. 13 imply that she has seen God. Others, however, note that "angel" means "messenger." They argue that as secular messengers are fully equated with their senders (Judg. 11:13; 2 Sam. 3:12, 13; 1 Kin. 20:2-4), so God's angel is identified with Him (see also Gen. 21:17:31:11; Ex. 14:19; 23:20;32:34). Either way, God communicates to Hagar through the angel in this text.

GOD IS . . . (KO E ‘OTUA, ‘OKU . . )
GOD IS TRIUNE
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. (2 Corinthians 13:14)
Doctrine
Christians are monotheists. We believe in the one true living God (Deut. 6:4; 32:39; Isa. 44:8; 1 Cor. 8:6). But that does not mean that all monotheists believe in the same God. When we speak about God, we must relate his entire identity. Thus, while attesting to the "singularity” and unity of the Godhead, we also affirm just as strongly the triunity of the Godhead (Matt. 28:19). The God who is one is at the same time three in persons.

Mo'oni 'ae Lau. Koe kelesi pe oku ou ma'u manava ai he Aho ni. No matter the debate on angels we know that God speaks to us in many different ways and means and we can only hear it if we have a relationship with God so that our consciousness is aware of his message. My personal favorite piece of wisdom comes from my mom whenever I get sick it always goes, oku I ai pe me'a oku tokanga mai ae Otua ki ai. Lau ho'o folofola pea fai ha'o lotu. With life running at overdrive God is not really a priority and at times he slows me down to remind (whether through my Mom or struggles)that he should be number one in my life not everything else.
ReplyDeleteMo’oni lahi Peni - life is hard enough - but taking the journey by faith according to the Word makes it all the more worthwhile. Malo e vahevahe.
