And he believed
in the Lord
Pea ne tui kia
Sihova
Senesi 15 (Genesis
15)
(v. 6) And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.
(v. 6) Pea ne tui kia Sihova: pea ne lau ia ma‘ane mā‘oni‘oni.
*Commentary: The
Reformation Study Bible*
This
verse provides the early core doctrine of justification by faith apart from works
(Gal. 3:6-14). Abraham believes the promise of the birth even
though, humanly speaking, he is 'as good as dead" and not likely to produce an heir with Sarah (Rom. 4:17-21; Heb. 11:11, 12). By faith alone God counts Abraham as righteous. Abraham's justification by faith is a model of our faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, God's sacrifice for sin, and God's crediting Christ's righteousness to us by faith alone (Rom. 4:22-25).
believed. Abraham is father of all who believe (Rom. 4:11), and all who believe are children of Abraham (Gal. 3:7).

GOD IS . . . (KO E ‘OTUA, ‘OKU . . )
GOD IS TRIUNE
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. (2 Corinthians 13:14)
Doctrine
Before we discuss the divine attributes—for God's triunity is not technically an "attribute” of God—we must keep in mind that when we speak of God, we are speaking of the Christian God, who is triune.

If we think of Abraham and how he came to believe in the Lord, it was after hearing from God. It is impossible to believe without hearing. As we're reminded in Romans 10:17 - "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God". Fakatauange ke tokoni mai 'a e 'Eiki ketau fakafanongo kiate Ia 'i he'ene Folofola.
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed - this is why we reject the notion of “blind faith” - faith is never blind! It is always connected to revelation (His Word). As we are given “light”, we respond accordingly. Also, it is by His grace that we believe. The “act” (work) is ours in response - the cause (initiator) is always God. In other words, faith is a gift from God! Malo Sisu!🙏🏽❤️
