*Commentary: The
Reformation Study Bible*
Melchizedek. Lit. "king
of righteousness" in Hebrew.
king of Salem...priest of God. This remarkable priest-king associated
with
Jerusalem is mentioned in the book of Hebrews to explain how Jesus can also be a priest-king in spite of not being a Levite (cf. Ps. 110:4). Salem was apparently an ancient name for Jerusalem (Ps. 76:2).

Knowing God
Works on our great God should bring us
joy, satisfaction, and a renewed appreciation for him. If this book (study) does
not do that, may it be cast aside and forgotten. Learn about and enjoy, I pray,
the God you will spend eternity knowing and enjoying, through Christ Jesus our
Lord. Amen.

Imagine getting to know someone. The more we learn to know about that person, the more we grow to love, understand and trust that person. As a result, we find joy and we get to appreciate that person for who they are to us, and who we are to them.
ReplyDeleteIt is the same with God. We can never grow to love, understand, and fully trust Him if we do not know who He really is to us and who we are in, and to Him. But how do we do that? I believe we can all answer that. That is, by COMMUNICATING! Get to know God by communing with Him through prayers, reading and studying His Word. I encourage you my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, GET TO KNOW HIM, talk to Him, read His letters to you, and I promise you, you will discover this JOY and sense of SATISFACTION that you never knew before.
That is my prayer Father God, that you continue to will and work in our hearts by drawing us to you and revealing us who you really are! In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen
Praise the Lord. Thank you Taukimonū for that reminder. So needed, so true. I just finished a biography of Charles Spugeon and as impressive as he was as a preacher and his depth of knowledge about theology - in his personal life, he “knew” God intimately - through prayer. He communed with God. Before & after his sermons, he would cry out to God - oh, how I need to do more so in my life 🙏🏽
Deleteit just reminds me that when i do something for God i should enjoy it and do it with an open heart. if i do it with an angry mindset then why am i even doing it at all. because when youre angry and upset you dont truly benefit from it like you would when youre happy. u miss out on your blessings
