How is it that you have found it so quickly

na‘e fēfē ho‘o ma‘u vave pehē?

Senesi 27 (Genesis 27)

(v. 20) But Isaac said to his son, “How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?” He answered, “Because the Lord your God granted me success.”

(v. 20) Pea me‘a ‘a ‘Aisake ki hono foha, Tama, na‘e fēfē ho‘o ma‘u vave pehē? Pea pehē ‘e ia, Koe‘uhi na‘e fakafekitaki ia kiate au ‘e Sihova ko ho ‘Otua.

*Commentary: David Guzik Study Notes on Genesis*

Jacob, the scoundrel, did not hesitate to bring in God as a party to his deception.

i. Jacob could do this because his only concern is for what worked. Since he (rightly) knew God that wanted him to have the birthright, he justified any lie or sin he committed in the pursuit of the birthright and told himself that it was a stand for righteousness.

ii. Jacob probably used the promise and calling of God as an excuse for sin; he justified it to himself by saying his sinful conduct acted towards the fulfillment of the promise of God.

GOD IS . . . (KO E ‘OTUA, ‘OKU . . )

GOD IS TRIUNE

Doctrine...

In sum, Francis Cheynell provides a helpful summary of the doctrine of the Trinity by affirming a number of the points mentioned above:

We do believe that God is one, most singly and singularly one, and an only one: The unity of the Godhead is ... a most singular unity. ... All three Persons have one and the same single and infinite Godhead, and therefore must needs mutually subsist in one another, because they are all three one and the same infinite God[.] ... united in their one nature, not confounded in their distinct subsistences; nay though their subsistence is in one another, yet their subsistences are distinct, but the nature most singularly the same.

  1. Abraham lied about his wife and so did his son Isaac. Now, Isaac's younger son Jacob with the support and advice of his mother is deceiving his father and his older brother Esau. It's sad to see the sinful pattern that runs in the family but that is a great reminder to all of us. May God help us not to make the same mistake.

  2. Deceit is seen throughout the day, week, months and even years...It’s not something that should be looked upon as good ever especially when trying to get something that’s not meant for you like Jacob did. A lot of times envy builds in your heart and you want to show off that you have what you can’t afford because you borrowed from a friend for the day...Isaac gave his blessing to the wrong son & even though this disappointed him it disappointed God more...I am not the oldest of my parents kids, but I act like it most of the time because I don’t wanna listen to the older kids or I’m just to independent 😁 I would never think of taking away any blessing that was meant for the older kids because it’s not meant for me...Thank God for allowing us all to be blessed with the gift of Salvation because if it was a blessing for the oldest only then that would be something worth fighting for and deceiving my parents to give it to me...It’s still not right, but I’m selfish and I wanna go to Heaven too...Hope I didn’t lose anyone but thank you for the great message today and I will use it as my lesson for the day!!! Have an awesome day today 💯🙏🏼

  3. Today's lesson is straightforward. Taukimonu and Peteli have summarized it
Nicely and exactly what I wanted to say. Great work guys.
I wanted to focus on generational sins. I know it doesn't really mentions in the bible but I feel it's something real. Growing up in Tonga I would hear it often the,"Mala tupufakaholo" or in the western world the sins of the father. Whenever that phrase was mentioned one would hear of the same sins from generation to generations in a family as if it was passed down. It was such an issue that it ended up being a major topic in one Apitanga. I don't remember exactly maybe 97-98. I remembered it because there was aukai, uike lotu and lotu hufia and me asking God to let the sins of my family end with Me and my generations pea Ke oua e hoko ia ko ha tukia'anga kihe ene kosipeli pea mo eku moui fakalaumalie. Today's lesson is a reminder that I'm not in control of the decision people make. All I can do is pray and ask God for forgiveness for I know there are times I do not hesitate in manipulating certain things in certain situations so that I may benefit from it.
Father forgive me for my sins, continue to guide me in your ways so that I may not commit the same sin that is pass down generationally. Amen

    1. Eze 18:19“Yet you say, ‘Why should not the son suffer for the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done what is just and right, and has been careful to observe all my statutes, he shall surely live. 20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself."

We will all (individually) give account for our own actions. Generational curses etc. and the various interpretations and emphasis are such because of how far reaching the "consequences" of sin is! We live a live of "daily repentance" and submit ourselves to the control of the Holy Spirit in order to please Him and believe that He is faithful to preserve His own.
