Noah ... entered the ark

Hū ‘a Noa ki he ‘Aʻake

Senesi 7 (Genesis 7)

(v.13) On the very same day Noah and Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark

(v. 13) Ko e ‘aho pē ko ia kuo hū ‘a Noa ki he ‘a‘ake, pea mo Semi mo Hami, pea mo Sēfeti, ko e ngaahi foha ‘o Noa, pea mo e uaifi ‘o Noa, mo e ngaahi uaifi ‘e toko tolu ‘o hono ngaahi foha;

*Commentary: Matthew Poole*

On the same day. on which the flood began by that terrible shower. Heb. In the body, or essence, or strength of the day, as Gen. 17:26; Lev. 23:14; Josh. 10:27. Not in the dark or twilight, like one ashamed of his action, or afraid of the people, but when it was clear day, or about noon-tide, in the public view of the world.

GOD IS . . . (KO E ‘OTUA, ‘OKU . . )

Knowing God

Our knowledge of God can never be limited to that which is merely grasped cognitively or academically. This study aims to help you love God with your mind but also with a great deal of strength, so that you can say with purity of heart (Matt. 5:8; 1 Tim. 1:5), "I know God." Eternal life is to know God (John 17:3).

Ko ‘etau ‘ilo ki he ‘Otua´ ‘e ‘ikai ke fakangatangata pe ki heʻetau mahino fakaʻatamai´ pe fakaʻakatēmika´ (faka-ako). Ko e ako ko eni´, ‘oku fakataumuʻa ke tokoniʻi koe ke ke ‘ofa ki he ‘Otua´ ‘aki ho ‘atamai´ pea pehē foki mo ho ivi´ kotoa, koeʻuhi´ ke ke lava ‘o lea mei he loto maʻa (Mat 5:8; 1 Tim 1:5), “ ‘Oku ou ‘ilo ‘a e ‘Otua´.” Ko e moʻui taʻengata´, ko e fai ke ‘ilo ‘a e ‘Otua´ (Sione 17:3).

  1. Challenge for the day is to continue to get to know God because He is the one that will give you eternal life because He’s an eternal God 💙

    1. Thank you Peteli for your encouragement and support of the blog by commenting. Hoping others will join in with their thoughts - "iron, sharpens iron." But absolutely, as Paul says in Philippians 3:10; that I may know him and the power of his resurrection... The 1st knowledge is in justification (saving relationship) the 2nd is the ongoing pursuit of Christ in sanctification until we leave planet earth...

    2. Entering into the ark signifies entering into the presence of God. The ark was a fortitude and protection from the outside elements and danger. It reminds that if the forces of evil is luring me or tempting me into wrongdoing so that I may falter from the right path I will always be protected if I'm in God's presence under his protection.
      For me today: I have to be diligent in reading my Bible and devotion in the morning to start my day so that I may receive his guidance and protection throughout the day. If not, then I'm vulnerable to the "outside elements" whichever that may be. And thank you Solopani for the Alpha Maama so that it could be another tool to bolster my defense in my daily journey.

    3. Praise God for the "ark"! The ultimate fulfillment of any symbols or typology in the Bible is CHRIST! Our ultimate rescue, protection, fort (place of refuge) is God in Christ! Malo Peni e lafo mei Maui. God is guiding us (as he has for centuries) back to himself. We have everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us (2 Peter 1:3). Fakafeta'i ki he 'Eiki, ma'u ai pe. Keep the comments coming.

  2. today was just a big reminder to always stay focused and consistent. and realizing that there are no limitations to what i can learn about God is eye opening because the limitations that i may feel are limitations that i put on myself.

    1. Very true Leti. He is limitless. We are limited. He is Great. I am small. Reducing everything to the very basic level. Like the legendary coach Lombardi said to his team after they struggled. He brought them back to the basics; he took a ball and raised up, and said, “Gentlemen, this is a football 🏈, am I going too fast?” 😅 Press on young man! 🙏🏽📖😀

  3. Here in one chapter alone we see the evolution of a lifetime take place in mere 40 days and 40 nights. Noah and His family enter the ark with the recommended number of animals to begin life anew. All bc God saw that Noah was righteous. Life was teeming around them - 40 days and 40 nights later - all living & breathing things on earth died. God had reordered the existence of humanity. . .it’s also interesting to mention here how this chapter devotes itself to retelling the same story twice. Signifying the importance of entering the ark and His use of the floodwaters to alter life. . . Makes me think - when God looks at me- Am I fit to enter the ark? And escape the imminent destruction to come? And then I ask myself- Do I, LUVU, truly know God enough that I can be confident in claiming a seat on the ark? . . John 17:3 rings true to my reading today “Eternal life is to KNOW God”. Fakafeta’i ‘e Tamai e fakamanatu mahuinga kemau fononga’i ‘i he ‘aho ni.
