*Commentary: Matthew Poole*

He commanded, not by such a word or speech as we use, which [does not] agree with the spiritual nature of God; but either by an act of his powerful will, called the word of his power, Heb. 1: 3; or, by his substantial Word, his Son, by whom he made the worlds, Heb. 1:2; Psal. 33:6, who is called, The Word, partly, if not principally, for this reason, John 1:1-3, 10.

Naʻa ne tuʻutuʻuni, ‘o ‘ikai fou ‘i ha lea hangē ko kitautolu´, he ‘e fepaki ia mo hono natula laumālie´; ka ‘i ha mafai mālohi ‘o hono finangalo´, ‘oku ‘iloa ko e folofola ‘a ‘Ene Mafimafi´ (Hepelū 1:3) pe ko e fou ‘i he folofola tuʻukimuʻa ‘a e ‘Otua´, ‘a hono ‘Alo´ ‘a ia naʻe fou ai ‘ene ngaohi ‘a e ‘univeesi´ (Hepelū 1:2; Saame 33:6) pea ‘oku ui ko e Folofola, ‘i he ‘uhinga ko eni´ (Sione 1:1-3, 10).

GOD IS . . . (KO E ‘OTUA, ‘OKU . . )

Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD." (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

Let us know, let us press on to know the LORD. (Hosea 6:3)
