Seti . . kuo tu‘utu‘uni ma‘aku ‘e he ‘Otua ha hako ‘e taha
Senesi
4 (Genesis 4)
(v. 25) And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, “For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.
(v. 25) Pea toe fe‘iloaki ‘a ‘Ātama mo hono uaifi; pea ne fā‘ele‘i ha tama, ‘o ne fakahingoa ia ko Seti [ko Tu‘utu‘uni]; he‘ene pehē, Kuo tu‘utu‘uni ma‘aku ‘e he ‘Otua ha hako ‘e taha ke fetongi ‘a ‘Ēpeli, ‘a ia ne tāmate‘i ‘e Keini.
*Commentary: The Reformation Bible*
Seth. His name, derived from the Hebrew verb translated "appointed," expresses Eve's faith that God will continue the covenant family in spite of death (3:15).

Knowing God
For us today, these “manifestations" are summed up in God's Word, which dictates what we must say about him. We must affirm only what God has said about himself, which includes deducing truths about God by good and necessary consequence. In this life, we may not understand all that the Bible tells us about God, but we must aim to believe and communicate as much as we can about him. We must press on to know the Lord (Hos. 6:3), a difficult but rewarding task (Heb. 11:6). Worship without knowledge is idolatry.
‘I heʻene felāveʻi mo hotau kuonga´, ko e ngaahi “fakahāhā meʻa” ko eni´ ‘oku fakamāʻopoʻopo

the part “we must affirm only what God has said sbout himself” stood out to me because i guess ive never really heard it that way bfore. but i think its crazy thst although we may only understand like 30% of what we actually read we still trust and believe Gods word and try to spread the good news. which just Goes to show the power Gods word has and the influence it can have in ones life.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Leti , I want to add to that as well - our family have attended a lot of “Christian” concerts and conferences pre Covid days. It’s always such a time of excitement and exhilarating to join with thousands of others to sing and praise and worship God. I am struck today by the simple phrase - “Worship without Knowledge is Idolatry” what a powerful but true statement as we watch the multitudes of teens worship and sing and praise God in these stadiums and coliseum we can only pray that their worship is not just for kicks and a part of hanging out with friends or just a novel thing. That there is fundamental foundational basis to their worship through their home life, youth life that roots them to God’s Word & Truth and allows them to experience God’s joy through fellowship in such opportunities as provided by music and worship. An important little tidbit for me to think on today! Blessings to all! ❤️

DeleteLuvu - absolutely! Simple yet profound! And God help us - we walk on and take in everything we can with regard to the knowledge of God so that we may worship Him rightly - in Spirit & Truth 🙏🏽
