Te u ‘ofeina ‘a
kinautolu te nau ‘ofeina koe
Senesi 12 (Genesis 12)
(v. 3) I will bless those who bless you, And
I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

bless those. The extent of God's merciful and gracious intention is indicated in the Hebrew by a switch from the plural object of blessing to the singular object of cursing. The subsequent account of Abraham's life confirms that many will receive God's blessing through the unique seed of Abraham (22:18; Gal. 3:8; Rev. 7:9,10).

Knowing God
In connection with this focus, the Puritan
theologian Thomas
Goodwin makes an important point:
There is a glorious image of all God's attributes, which shines in the person of Christ ... and in the works which Christ hath done for us, and in the fruits and benefits that redound thereby to us: or in the works of Christ ... in us, now he is in heaven, leading us into communion with himself. And they all make a complete image, and that more perfect, of the riches of God's glory: and this the gospel treats of.

"There is a glorious image of all God's attributes, which shines in the person of Christ" - love this!! Very true. Never thought of it like that
ReplyDeleteOh how glorious indeed!! And we are the beneficiaries! 🙌🏽❤️🙏🏽
DeleteThrough Jesus Christ, we are called and blessed to be a blessing to others.
ReplyDeleteI pray that the Holy Spirit moves mightily in us so we can be blessings to those around us and that the glorious image of God which shines in His Son, be reflected in us 🙏🏽
What a wonderful extension of His Promise - that we might be called his own (1 John 3:1). Praise His Holy Name! and Amen to us being a blessing to others - so that His Kingdom might be expanded through our witness, in word & deed. Fakafeta'i atu 'Eiki. (Thanks for sharing - glory to God)
DeleteThat we may be one of the many that are blessed and not one of the few that are cursed 🙏🏼🙏🏼
ReplyDeleteattributes of christ shown through a person devoted in him. i love that. it jsut further pushes us to grow our relationship with him. and like from the other days in order to know him you need to dive deeper , and that statement that his attributes are shown through devout believers pushes that idea. i also just love that statement so much
ReplyDeleteIt's not a blessing if I'm expecting something in return. It then becomes a task. Give blessings freely because it is our calling and in return we will be blessed.
