Jehovah-jireh. The same Hebrew letters differently pointed make the sense either active, the Lord will see, i. e. provide or take care of those that commit themselves and their affairs to him; or passive, the Lord will be seen, i. e. will appear and show himself in the behalf of all those that love him.

GOD IS . . . (KO E ‘OTUA, ‘OKU . . )
GOD IS TRIUNE
Doctrine...
In addition to essence-appropriate language, we also use "persons-appropriate” language. So, for example, the Son, not the Father, became incarnate. The Father eternally begets the Son, but the Son does not eternally beget the Father. The Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son, but the Father and the Son do not proceed from the Spirit. The doctrine of the Trinity means that there is no distinction of essence but rather a distinction of persons.

Praise God for the abundance of his provision - physically, mentally, financially, academically and above all spiritually. God always has and always will provide for us. But please let me share this story.
ReplyDeleteA lady was ill with consumption. She was advised to go to Florida to spend winter. She wrote home glowing letters about the salubrious climate, the wonderful foliage, the luscious fruits. While it was midwinter at her old home in the North, it was summer where she was. She spoke of the table, how it was covered with all manner of tempting fruits. But in every letter she wrote there was one sad lament: "I have no appetite. If I only had an appetite, I am sure I should soon grow well amid such luxuries." Then in a little while word came that she was dead, dead in the midst of abounding plenty, not for want of food, but for want of appetite.
So it is with many souls. We live amidst abundance of spiritual provision. God spreads full tables before us continually. We sit down besides them, and then we go away empty; not because there is nothing there for us, but because we have no hunger for such things.
That is my prayer, my fellow young believers, that with God's help we cultivate an appetite for His Word and enjoy the fullness of His provision. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Thank you so much for your beautiful story!!! I can imagine Christians today hearing the Word of God but not hungering for it even tho they’re starving spiritually!!! Powerful message.
DeleteOh to hunger after YOU Lord! The loss of appetite (as in the story) is a tell tell sign of sickness or of satiety from someone else. During my recent bout with covid, this was my case for 2 weeks. Even though I embraced it (as a heavy man) I knew it was not the norm. The "spread" is laid out everyday for us in His Word - but our appetite drives us elsewhere. What most consumes us, is what drives us - developing an appetite for God and what He PROVIDES is the challenge we face as Christians. Tokoni mai 'Eiki.

Genesis 22:12-14
ReplyDeleteAnd He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me." Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, "In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided."
Today Lord, I offer you the only thing I have as a sacrifice to you. 'Oku ou tukuange kakato atu 'a e me'a kotoa pe na'a ku kei puke ki ai. 'Oku ou tuku atu 'a hoku 'Aisake ko e feilaulau. If you guys only knew and seen the blessings we were overflowed with & the love that was shown to us by family and friends all over the world..God is good, all the time God is GREAT!!!
From my FB sharing today:
ReplyDeleteWe are in Genesis 22 and we find the well known story of Abraham taking his son Isaac to Mt Moriah. This was Abraham's "test"...but in Chap 15, "he believed God and was counted to him as righteousness." So, what was he being tested for?
By this time in Abraham's life, he has gone through much, seen much and witnessed so much more of God coming through each and every time! But "this" time - God comes to him in a rather strange way... to take his one and only son and offer him up as a sacrifice! We do not get any details of the encounter (conversation) between God and Abraham...only that he obeyed. And even before we get to the climax of the story where we see the grace and mercy of God and His PROVISION - we see a preview of it when Abraham answered his son, that "God will provide for himself the lamb for the sacrifice (v.8).
"In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ" ( 1 Peter 1:7).
God tests his people to upgrade their faith - But Satan tempts to downgrade by causing them (us) to sin... Do not be weary and fret over the trials God sends your way to further your growth and fortify you for service for His glory. Amen.
We all know God is all powerful, God will provide and God is Good. But we as Christian only truly believe it when we are misfortunes or when tragedy hits. Or I should say, that we "hunger" more for him in those times then any other. I know that God wants it that way. He waits for us to use all the smarts we have to try and figure out solutions to our problems and when we run out of ideas he takes over. Basically, koe osi o etau poto koe kamata'anga ia oe Otua. It is so that he can test our faith and to restore it in him alone so that he alone will be glorify.
