Ha loto ‘oku kumi mo‘oni kiate Ia
A heart that truly seeks God for who He is
Fehu‘i #6
‘E founga fēfē ha‘atau fakalangilangi‘i ‘a e ‘Otuá ?

(How can we glorify God?)

‘Oku tau fakalangilangi‘i ‘a e ‘Otuá ‘aki ‘a e tu‘u mo‘oni ‘etau manakó ‘iate Ia, ‘ofa kiate Ia , falala kiate Ia, mo talangofua ki hono finangaló, mo ‘ene ngaahi tu‘utu‘uní , mo ‘ene laó́ .

(We glorify God by enjoying him, loving him, trusting him, and by obeying his will, commands, and law.)

Teutalonome 11:1
Ko ia te ke ‘ofa kia Sihova ko ho ‘Otua, ‘o tauhi hono fatongia, mo hono ngaahi lao, mo ‘ene konisitūtone, mo ‘ene ngaahi tu‘utu‘uni, ma‘u ai pē.

Deuteronomy 11:1
You shall therefore love the Lord your God and keep his charge, his statutes, his rules, and his commandments always.

‘Oku tokolahi ‘a e fa‘ahinga ‘oku nau pehē ‘oku nau fakalangilangi‘i ‘a e ‘Otuá  koe‘uhí  he ‘oku nau punou pe mo kātaki mamahi ‘a e kanongatāmaki ‘o e ngaue ‘a e ‘Eikí, he ka ‘ikai ‘e tautea‘i kinautolu. Pea ‘i he taimi ‘e taha, ‘oku nau fai ‘a e me‘a ‘oku nau pehē ‘oku finangalo ki ai ‘a e ‘Otuá  koe‘uhí  ke ‘asili hono tāpuaki‘i kinautolu ‘aki ‘a e ngaahi koloa matelié. Fakatou‘osi ‘a e ongo founga siokita fakangalingali ko ení - ‘a hono fai ‘o ha me‘a ke malu‘i au pe tala ‘a hoto kitá - ‘oku ‘ikai ko ha ‘ofa ‘Otua ia! ‘I he taimi ‘oku tau mahino‘i ai, na‘e foaki ‘e he ‘Otuá  hono ‘Aló  ma‘akú, pea kuo ne faka‘ilo kiate au ‘a hono ‘ulungaangá mo ‘ene mamahi‘i me‘á (care), pea ‘oku toki mahino leva ko e ‘ofa kiate Iá mo ‘eku lelei‘ia ‘iate Iá, ‘oku ‘uhinga ia, te u manako (hohoi) ke fou ‘i he ‘alunga ‘oku lelei mo malu ki he‘eku mo‘uí.

So many times people think they’re glorifying God because they’re just kind of bowing their necks and doing the awful thing they hate because otherwise God is going to hurt them. Or sometimes they do the things that they think God wants so that he’ll give them more good stuff. Both those kinds of sanctified selfishness – I’m doing this so I will protect myself or promote myself – are not really love for God. When we understand that God gave his son for me, that he’s shown me his character and his care, then I understand that loving him and enjoying him means that I will delight to walk on that which provides the good and the safe path for my life.
