No questions asked – just quiet obedience

SCRIPTURE

When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.

Matthew 1:24

OBSERVATION

When the angel came to Mary, she had asked Gabriel several

questions about the upcoming pregnancy. When the angel came to Joseph, however, he didn't ask a single question. He went and took Mary home as his wife. No planning. No Pinterest ideas. No invitations. No excuses. No justifications. He simply listened and obeyed

APPLICATION

There are likely times you believe you are smarter than God. You may never actually say it out loud, but you demonstrate such misbelief when you do not do what God tells you to do. There are times you may need to take a page from Joseph's playbook here and simply listen and obey. God is indeed smarter than you. Trust Him.

PRAYER

God, give me the discernment to know what is of you and what is not. Help me listen to you so I can know exactly what to do in order to obey. Amen.
