Love
and devotion
SCRIPTURE
"He went there to register with Mary. who was
pledged to be
married to him and was expecting a child. " Luke 2:5
OBSERVATION
This verse casually mentions how Joseph travelled to Bethlehem
with Mary, but it was about an 80-mile journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Just
the trip alone likely meant a lot to Mary knowing Joseph was willing to travel
with her for such a long distance while she was in her final month of pregnancy.
It probably also meant a lot to Joseph knowing that Mary was willing to travel
such a long distance to go to his ancestral hometown for the census.
APPLICATION
Devotion to your spouse is so critical. If you are
married, it is important for your spouse to know that you are there with them
and for them. If you are not married, learn from Joseph and Mary's devotion to
one another to know what a healthy marriage looks like.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, make me a servant to my spouse so I
can willingly put the needs of the other person above my own
Amen.
