(v. 20-22) 20 “Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared. 21 Pay careful attention to him and obey his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgression, for my name is in him. 22 “But if you carefully obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
(v. 20-22) 20 Ko eni ‘oku ou fekau atu ha ‘Āngelo ke ‘alu mu‘omu‘a kiate koe ke tauhi koe ‘i he hala, pea ke fakahū ki he potu kuo u teuteu. 21 Tokanga telia ia, pea fakaongo ki he‘ene lea; ‘oua ‘e angatu‘u kiate ia, he tala‘ehai te ne fakamolemole ho‘omou angahala; he ko hoku hingoa ‘oku tu‘u ‘iate ia. 22 He kapau te ke mātu‘aki fakaongo ki he‘ene lea, ‘o fai hono kotoa ‘o e me‘a te u tala, pea te u toki hoko ko e fili ‘o ho ngaahi fili, mo e fakamamahi ‘o ho kau fakamamahi.
*Commentary: The ESV Study Bible*
The angel who will go before Israel is described in ways that closely identify him with God: the Lord tells Israel not to rebel against him (v. 21) because he will not pardon your transgression and because my name is in him (v.21, implying God's nature and character), and that to obey his voice is to do all that I say (v. 22). When Joshua finally leads the people into the land, he meets a figure outside Jericho referred to as "the commander of the army of the LORD" who speaks nearly identical words as those spoken to Moses at the burning bush (see 3:2; Josh. 5:13-15); both his title and drawn sword seem to identify him with the angel who has protected Israel (see Ex. 14:19) and who is promised here to go before them into Canaan (see also 33:2).

Thank you Lord for your guidance! Thank you for your guardian angels! Help us to take heed of your Word and be obedient as we ought to. In the mighty name of Jesus! Amen 🙏🏽
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me to walk this journey with the Israelites simply because I can’t imagine doing that today. Walking through the desert for years. God is so powerful that those who disobeyed Him didn’t reach the promise land. God asks one thing of the Israelites and ourselves and that’s to OBEY HIM!!! He doesn’t ask for much but He gives specific instructions to obey Him and He will be the enemy to our enemies and the adversary to our adversaries. I know it’s easy to disobey anyone but when God is the one who controls our lives, why wouldn’t you wanna be obedient to Him? Obey the Lord and He will come through for you everytime you need Him 🙏🏼💯
ReplyDelete***I believe that our goal as christian is to get to the place (Heaven) God has prepared for us❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteVerse 20, gives us HOPE that in our journey in life or on this earth we are not alone. We may feel like we are alone and fight for our life. We may feel that God don't care about us BUT God says, "Behold" or be patience he has sent an angel to guide and lead us throughout the way to where he wanted us to be. there will be obstacles in the way no doubt but if we fixed our eyes and mind on our goal and follow his lead, we will get there.
Verse 21,
fekau:to pay more attention and listen. God speaks to us in different ways and it could be through his words, sermon, dreams etc. we need to be ready to accept it and not go against it. I know there are times, God give us things that are not fit with what our minds already set to do. Or with how we feel or expect to happen. We want things to go our ways but this reminded us " do not rebel against him" .
Lessons:
Not give up hope no matter what obstacles we face. And we're not in it alone. He is always with us
