Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen

Pea na‘e nofo ‘a ‘Isileli ‘i ‘Isipite ‘i he feitu‘u ko Kōseni

Senesi 47 (Genesis 47)

(v. 27) Thus Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen. And they gained possessions in it, and were fruitful and multiplied greatly.

(v. 27) Pea na‘e nofo ‘a ‘Isileli ‘i ‘Isipite ‘i he feitu‘u ko Kōseni; pea na‘a nau ma‘u tofi‘a ai, mo nau tupu, mo nau faka‘au ke fu‘u lahi.

*Commentary: Matthew Henry*

The comfort Jacob lived in (v. 27, 28); while the Egyptians were impoverished in their own land, Jacob was replenished in a strange land. He lived seventeen years after he came into Egypt, far beyond his own expectation. Seventeen years he had nourished Joseph (for so old he was when he was sold from him, ch. 37:2), and now, by way of requital, seventeen years Joseph nourished him. Observe how kindly Providence ordered Jacob's affairs, that when he was old, and least able to bear care or fatigue, he had least occasion for it, being well provided for by his son without his own forecast. Thus God considers the frame of his people.

*Tohi Vete: Matiu Henelē*

Naʻe nonga ‘a e moʻui ‘a Sekope (v 27, 28); lolotonga ‘a e faingaʻaʻia ‘a e kau ‘Isipite´ ‘i honau fonua´, naʻe fakafoʻou ‘a e moʻui ia ‘a Sekope ‘i ha fonua muli. Naʻa ne moʻui ‘i ha taʻu ‘e 17 hili ‘ene tuʻuta ‘i ‘Isipite´, ‘o hulu atu ia ‘i heʻene ‘amanaki´. Naʻe taʻu ‘e 17 ‘ene tauhi ‘a Siosifa´ (he ko hono taʻu ia naʻe fakatau popula ai ia´, vahe 37:2), pea ko eni, kuo totongi fakafoki ‘e Siosifa ‘a e ngaahi taʻu ko ia´ ‘o ne tauhi mo fafanga ai ia. Fakatokangaʻi ‘a e fai tuʻutuʻuni ‘a e ‘ofa faka-palovitenisi´ ‘i he ngaahi laka ‘a Sekope´, ‘a ē ‘i heʻene toulekeleka´, pea ‘ikai te ne kei lava ‘i hono ivi ‘oʻona´ ke tokangaʻi ‘ene moʻui´, naʻe fai kotoa ‘e hono foha´ ‘a hono tauhi´, neongo ‘a ‘ene taʻeʻamanekina´. ‘Io, ‘oku tokangaekina ‘e Sihova ‘a ‘ene kakai´.

GOD IS . . . (KO E ‘OTUA, ‘OKU . . )

2        GOD IS SIMPLE

            Doctrine

God is not simply good but rather goodness itself. God is not merely powerful but rather omnipotence itself. More than that, when we speak of his attributes, we must keep in mind that because his essence remains undivided, his goodness is his power. Or, God's love is his power is his eternity is his immutability is his omniscience is his goodness, and so forth. In other words, there is technically no such thing as attributes (plural) but only God's simple, undivided essence.

‘Oku lelei ‘a e ‘Otua´, ka ‘oku ope atu ai, he ko Ia ‘a lelei. ‘Oku ‘ikai ke mafimafi pe ‘a e ‘Otua´, ka ko mafimafi tonu Ia. 1. Jacob and Joseph were provided for despite what they have gone through up to this point in their lives. Jacob suffered a huge loss when Joseph was sold to the Egyptians because that’s his son. Joseph didn’t have the opportunity to grow up with his brothers, yet he was thrown in prison for being falsely accused for something he didn’t do, but he was blessed in everything. Everything Joseph touched was blessed by God. How amazing is that!!! God used him to faka’uhinga’i a dream for a king! That’s great. God prepares us through pain and struggles in order for us to bless others because He provides for us. Sometimes when I ask for things God gives it to me then and there or He waits for His own perfect timing. That’s the power the Lord has on every single person on this earth. Be great today and don’t forget to count your blessing and give thanks to God for allowing you to wake up today 💯

  2. It does not matter where you are at in life and which country you are from. Whether you are rich or poor. Able or unable. As long as God is by your side he will bless you and provide for whatever you go.
Jacob was afraid to leave Canaan for Egypt because he wanted to be buried along with his father and forefather in the promised land. When he got to Egypt he was well beyond blessed in a foreign land.
Many of us are in similar situations daily. We are presented with choices that takes us out of our elements our comfort zone and what we are use to and then put into unfamiliar territory. If we embrace it and have faith then we will be blessed.

  3. When Joseph’s father and his brothers entered Egypt, it spoke volumes on behalf of Gods love and plan. No matter what we plan for our lives/future, whether it’s your dream school, job, etc...God will always have the best plan for your life whether you understand right away or later in life. No one knows what’s best for themselves but God, so keep the faith and trust that our God will provide more for you beyond what you even imagined for yourself.
