“Do not interpretations belong to God?”

‘Ikai ‘oku ‘i he ‘Otua ‘a e faka‘uhinga?

Senesi 40 (Genesis 40)

(v. 8) And they said to him, “We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.” So Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me, please.”

(v. 8) Pea na tali, Kuo ma misi, pea ‘oku ‘ikai ha taha ke vete hono ‘uhinga.

Pea pehē ‘e Siosifa kiate kinaua, ‘Ikai ‘oku ‘i he ‘Otua ‘a e faka‘uhinga? fakamatala mai mu‘a kiate au.

dreams. The three sets of dreams, to Joseph (37:5-11), to the cupbearer and baker (ch. 40), and to Pharaoh (ch. 41), show God's sovereign control (41:28)

*Tohi Vete: Tohitapu Ako ‘o e Fakalelei-Lotu´*

GOD IS . . . (KO E ‘OTUA, ‘OKU . . )

GOD IS TRIUNE

Application

In the Lord's Supper, which is a Trinitarian activity, we receive grace from Christ in our communion with him. The gift of the body and blood is a gift given to us by the Father; the body and blood represent the now-resurrected Son; and we receive Christ into our hearts afresh through the work of the Spirit. The gospel is preached visibly to us, and by faith, in the power of the Spirit, we enter into communion with our Savior. He comes to us anew to comfort us with his promises and to stir up in us faith, hope, and love.

KO E ‘OTUA, ‘OKU / KO E ...

  1. I admire Joseph's confidence in God and his boldness to give the interpretation from God just as it is. He delivered the positive interpretation of the cupbearer's dream and he also gave the negative interpretation of the baker's dream. He did not twist nor hide anything from these two men.
2 Timothy 1:7 - "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
Lord, help me as I receive your spirit of power, love and sound mind, to speak and preach your Word as it is, just like like Joseph. In Jesus name. Amen.

  2. One day I hope the same confidence Joseph had. All these men with their dreams that they know not how to interpret it, and here comes Joseph saying God can do it so tell me what your dreams are!!! 💯 Confidence right there!!!

Everyone has dreams and some Tongan superstitions are wedding dreams and funeral dreams etc. but a lot of the time it’s not true that I had a dream I got married and then the meaning of my dream means someone’s gonna die...Some people believe that’s gonna happen, but I’ve yet to see it...These men that had dreams were real interpretations because God was the One who interpreted them through Joseph. One day I hope I can have the control GOD had over Joseph through me...That would be amazing to Know I can do it all with Christ through me!!! Have a great day everyone 🤟🏼🙏🏼

  3. Joseph was definitely special. To be in the position he was in, he kept the faith and remained strong and humble. (2 Corinthians 5:7) He was selfless. Caring. Loving. Had a heart of gold. Despite the challenges he faced, he was wholeheartedly willing to help those around him. Joseph never doubted his gift and knew God spoke through him. I admire Joseph because all the hardships he endured, he still chose God! I pray that no matter what circumstances I go through in life, that I choose God EVERY single time, as Joseph did❤️

    1. Hello SAC Town! 😀 Amen to all dat! Joseph exemplified so much of the characters of Christ. Thanks for sharing, Lose. As Joseph was, so can we. As Christ is, so are we (in Christ, we live). Malo Sisu 🙏🏽

  4. Interesting trivia: There are only 2 incidents of a birthday celebration mentioned in the Bible. The 1st one is here in Genesis 40 (Pharaoh's) and the 2nd? comment in "reply" if you know...

    1. I knew but didn't come to mind right away so I looked it up.
It was Helota's birthday where Helotiasi's daughter danced and pleased Helota and he promised her anything she wanted he'll give her. So Helotiasi made the daughter ask for John the Baptist head on a platter because John told Helota it was unlawful to take her (Helotiasi) because she was his brother Filipes' wife. Since Helota made an oath in front of everyone he had to honor it, therefore the death of John the Baptist.

    1. Yes, Moses was a literary genius (of course God supervised his writing) There are nuances to Genesis that are brilliant. Notice the 3 sets of dreams (Joseph had 2; the 2 by Pharaoh’s cupbearer & baker; and the 2 by Pharaoh).

Joseph’s 3 going downs - down the pit, down to Egypt, down to prison - only to rise to prominence in Pharaoh’s court.

Yes, God did that! And much, much more 🙏🏽
