“Christ
is the Boss of me”
Fehu‘i
#1
Ko e hā ‘etau ‘amanaki pe taha ‘i he
mo‘uí mo e maté?
(What is our only hope in life and
death?)
‘Oku ‘ikai ‘o kitautolu ‘a kitautolu, ka
‘oku fakatou ma‘u hotau sinoʹ mo e laumalié ‘e he ‘Otuá mo hotau Fakamo‘ui ko
Sisu Kalaisi, ‘o tatau pe ‘i he mo‘ui mo e mate.
(That we are not our own but belong, body
and soul, both in life and death, to God and to our Savior Jesus Christ)
Loma
14:7-8
He tala‘ehai ‘oku ‘i ai hatau toko taha ‘oku
mo‘ui ma‘ana; pea tala‘ehai ‘oku ‘i ai hatau toko taha ‘oku pekia ma‘ana pē. He kapau ‘oku tau mo‘ui, ‘oku tau mo‘ui ma‘a e ‘Eiki; pea kapau ‘oku tau pekia, ‘oku tau pekia ma‘a e ‘Eiki: ko ia, pe ‘oku tau mo‘ui, pe ‘oku tau pekia, ko e me‘a ‘a e ‘Eiki pē ‘a kitautolu.
Romans
14:7 – 8
For none of us lives to himself, and none
of us dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we
die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.
As we
wrap up our first week of our new devotional, I pray that the point of us “not”
belonging to ourselves but rather to Christ, was driven home. May we never
forget that we do not belong to self, but to Christ. As the song says, “I’m my beloved and He is mine, His banner
over me is love.”

‘Oku ou
manatu‘i ha lea na‘e fai ‘e ha tokotaha ‘i he‘ene pehē, “ Te ke lava fēfē ke ke
a‘usia ‘a e mo‘oni ‘o e foaki li‘oa ne fai ‘e ha taha ma‘au pea ‘ikai te ke fai
‘a e me‘a tatau ma‘ana, ‘o foaki li‘oa koe ma‘ana?”
Na‘e
foaki kakato ‘e Sisu ‘ene mo‘uí ma‘a kitautolu. Ko ia ai, kuopau ke tau foaki
kakato kitautolu ma‘ana.
Some years ago I heard a Christian speaker
say, “How can you come to grips with someone who has given himself utterly for
you without you giving yourself utterly for him?”
Jesus gave himself wholly for us. So now,
we must give ourselves wholly to him.
Lotu
“Kalaisi,
ko homau ‘amanaki‘anga, ‘i he mo‘uí mo e maté, ‘oku mau hinga atu ki ho‘o
meesi tauhi faka-e-Tamai. ‘Oku ke ‘ofa‘i kimautolu koe‘uhí ‘oku ‘a‘au
kimautolu. ‘Oku ‘ikai ha‘amau lelei ‘o ‘ata‘atā meiate koe pea ‘oku ‘ikai mo
ha‘amau koloa fungani ange, ka ko hono lau kimautolu ko ho‘o me‘a. ‘Emeni.”
Prayer
Christ our hope, in life and in death, we
cast ourselves on your merciful, fatherly care. You love us because we are your
own. We have no good apart from you, and we could ask for no greater gift then
to belong to you. Amen.
