FAITH IS OUR SHIELD

KO E TUI KO HOTAU PĀ

EPHESIANS 6:16

In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;

‘EFESO 6:16

kae‘uma‘ā kuo mou to‘o ‘a e pā ko e tui, ‘a ia te mou lava ‘aki ke tāmate‘i ‘a e ngaahi ngahau vela kotoa pē ‘a e fili.

Sola Fide - Faith Alone - Ko e Tui´ pe

The truth is that unbelief reigns not in the hearts of believers, but only assails them from without; does not wound them mortally with its darts, but annoys them, or, at the utmost, gives them a wound which can be healed. Faith, as Paul declares, is our shield, which receiving these darts, either wards them off entirely, or at least breaks their force and prevents them from reaching the vitals. Hence when faith is shaken, it is just as when, by the violent blow of a javelin, a soldier standing firm is forced to step back and yield a little; and again when faith is wounded, it is as if the shield were pierced, but not perforated by the blow.

The pious mind will always rise, and be able to say with David, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me” (Psalm 23:4). Since the prevailing thought is that God is present and providing for ſour] safety, the feeling of security overcomes that of fear.

  1. Another amazing passage this morning.

    I often question myself on why I get afraid of ANYTHING when I have Christ in me. For example, scary movies, a lot of people are scared of scary movies but I’m not because I know it’s fake. Unless based on a true story. We should never be afraid especially when our shield is our Lord Jesus Christ?

    We’re all human so no matter what we say we will always continue to be afraid of something. Next time we are in a situation that makes us afraid we should remember that Christ is our shield and He would never let anything happen to us unless it’s to teach us a lesson. 🙏🏼

  2. P - Shield of Faith
    L - take up, use the shield of faith. The shield is one of our gears in our armor of God. To “take up” and have faith, believe and trust in the Lord to combat the enemies tactics.
    O - God is the one that equips us. God is our most protective and important armor.
    W - We cannot fight or deal with the enemy alone, because we are flesh and will be easily prone to it. As Christians we have been given the armor of God to protect us that includes the shield of faith. What use is our faith, if we do not practice it.

    Worship - Lord I thank you for the gift of salvation and grace. Lord may I continue to put on the FULL armor, not just the helmet one day or the belt of truth one day, but ALL of it Lord. For I know Lord, I am weak in flesh yet strong in spirit because of you. May I seek and practice having faith in all that I do and not fall for the enemies lies. Thank you Jesus.
    Amen.
