ONE TRUE FAITH

KO E TUI PE TAHA ‘OKU MO’ONI

ROMANS 1:17

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

LOMA 1:17

He ‘oku fakae‘a ‘i ai ha mā‘oni‘oni mei he ‘Otua, ‘oku kamata mei he tui, pea iku ki he tui; ‘o hangē ko e Folofola, Ko e mā‘oni‘oni te ne mo‘ui mei he tui

Sola Fide - Faith Alone - Ko e Tui´ pe

Faith is the saving grace—it is the connecting link between the soul and Christ. Take that away and all is gone. Remove faith, you have sawn through the ship's keel, and she must sink. Take Away faith, you have taken away my shield and I must be slain. Remove faith, and Christian life becomes a nonentity: it is extinct at once, for "the just shall live by faith"; and without faith how could they live at all?

Consider then, that since faith is so important in salvation, it becomes each of us more earnestly to inquire whether we have faith or not. O my brethren, there are a thousand shams in the world—a thousand imitations of faith—but there is only one true vital saving faith. There are scores of notional faiths—a faith which consists in holding a sound creed, a faith which bids men believe a lie, by wrapping them up with assurances of their safety when they are still in the gall of bitterness and the bonds of iniquity, a faith which consists in presumptuously trusting to ourselves. There are scores of false faiths; but there is only one true one.

CHARLES SPURGEON

Ko TUI, ‘a e kelesi ‘oku fakamo’ui - ko e hoko’anga eni ‘o e laumalie mo Kalaisi. Ka to’o ia ‘o fakamavahe’i, ‘e mole kotoa. Ka to’o ‘a TUI, ko ho’o avangi ia ‘a e faliki ho vaka, pea kuopau ke ngoto. To’o ‘a tui, pea ko ho’o to’o ia hoku paa, pea kuopau ke fakapoongi ai. 1. Today’s verse, Rom 1:17, starts with a connecting word “For” - go back to v. 16 - it also starts with “for” - go back to v.15 - it starts with “so” another connecting word - and if u back up to v.14, then you will see Paul’s progression.

Read from v.14 and get the whole picture - to gain a better understanding and appreciation for today’s theme and emphasis.

  2. Rom 1:14 - Paul is under “obligation” to preach to the non Jews, to different classes of people

    v. 15 - he is eager to preach to his intended audience, the Romans

    v. 16 - “For” - continues the line of thought he startes in v.14, namely his passion and eagerness to preach the GOSPEL - the Power of God to save those who Believe!

v.17 - “For” continues Paul line of thought from before - For in “it” - what is this “it”? Well, what has Paul been talking about? PEACHING. Paul’s preaching of the Gospel “reveals” this marvelous truth! “The Righteous shall live by Faith!” 🙏🏼❤️
