FAITH TAKES HOLD OF CHRIST

‘OKU PIKI ‘A E TUI KIA KALAISI

GALATIANS 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

KALETIA 2:20

Kuo tutuki au ki he Kolosi mo Kalaisi: pea ko ‘eku mo‘ui ‘oku fai, ‘oku ‘ikai kei ko au, ka ko e mo‘ui ‘oku fai ‘e Kalaisi ‘iate au: ‘io, ko e mo‘ui ‘oku ou fai ‘eni ‘i he kakano ko e mo‘ui ‘i he tui, ko e tui ki he ‘Alo ‘o e ‘Otua, ‘a ia na‘a ne ‘ofeina au, mo ne foaki ia ‘e ia ke pekia koe‘uhi ko au.

Sola Fide - Faith Alone - Ko e Tui´ pe

In order to have faith you must paint a true portrait of Christ. The scholastics caricature Christ into a judge and tormentor. But Christ is no lawgiver. He is the Lifegiver. He is the Forgiver of sins. You must believe that Christ might have atoned for the sins of the world with one single drop of His blood. Instead, He shed His blood abundantly in order that He might give abundant satisfaction for our sins.

Here let me say that these three things—faith, Christ, and imputation of righteousness—are to be joined together. Faith takes hold of Christ. God accounts this faith for righteousness. This imputation of righteousness we need very much, because we are far from perfect. As long as we have this body, sin will dwell in our flesh. Then, too, we sometimes drive away the Holy Spirit; we fall into sin, like Peter, David, and other holy men. Nevertheless we may always take recourse to this fact, “that our sins are covered" and that “God will not lay them to our charge."

MARTIN LUTHER

Kimu’a pea ke ma’u ‘a e tui totonu, kuopau ke ke ma’u ‘a e ‘ata mo’oni ‘o Kalaisi. ‘Oku tuku mai ‘e he kau mataotao faka-’atamai, ha Kalaisi ko ha fakamaau mo ha fakamamahi. ‘Oku ‘ikai ko ha tokotaha foaki lao pe ‘a Kalaisi. Ko Ia ‘a e Foaki-mo’ui. Ko Ia ‘a e Fakamolemole ‘o e angahala. Mahalo na’a ke pehee na’e huhu’i ‘e Kalaisi ‘a e angahala ‘a mamani ‘aki ha fo’i tulutaa toto pe. Ka, na’e tafe hono ta’ata’a ke fe’unga mo lato kotoa ai ‘a e tu’utu’uni ki he’etau ngaahi angahala.

Ko e ngaahi me’a ni ‘e tolu: Tui, Kalaisi mo e ma’oni’oni ne tuku mai - ‘oku fakataha’i kinautolu. ‘Oku piki ‘a e tui kia Kalaisi. ‘Oku lau ‘e he ‘Otua ‘a e tui ko eni ko e ma’oni’oni. Ko e ma’oni’oni ‘oku tuku mai, ‘oku fu’u mahu’inga fau pea tau fiema’u, koe’uhi, he ‘oku tau mama’o fau mei he haohaoa. Lolotonga ‘etau kei ‘i he sino ko eni, ‘oku kei nofo pe ‘a e angahala ‘i hotau kakano. 1. Good morning 🙏🏼
I wanna apologize for being away for some time, but I’m blessed that I’m still able to return and read Gods living Word.

This mornings devotion to me clarifies what I need in my life now more than ever. Fellow sisters in Christ have kept me accountable for my walk-in in life, and the importance of praying with faith. This morning it shows that the three things necessary in my life is not only Faith, but Christ and the imputation of righteousness.

I often think I have it all figured out because I’m making money, I have a job, taking care of my parents etc. but at the end of the day I’m still broke, I dread going into work most days and I’m not doing a good job in caring for my parents. However, I don’t lose my faith at all that God will provide the finances to pay for the bills, hopefully a job that I’ll enjoy waking up to go to and That I continue to love and care for my parents consistently. I’ll far from righteous but through Christ and my faith in Him I’ll reach that goal!

    Hope y’all have a great day 💙

  3. Questions:
    1) Being crucified with Christ speaks to our “what” in Christ?

    2) The answer to #1 is a spiritual truth. What “physical act” demonstrates this reality in the life of the Christian?

    1. I may be incorrect, but to me being crucified with crucified with Christ to what I understand is the suffering. In our walk we still struggle with sin and things of this earth, but we are in unit with Christ. We also take on the persecution that comes with it. I’ll continue to meditate and reread this as well.

    2. Read verses 15-17 - What is Paul talking about? Answer that and you will understand verse 20 better.

  4. P) it is no longer I but Christ living in me
    L) live, love, gave, crucified,
    O) Christ living in me, crucified with Christ, son of God
    W) we have to live by faith in Christ. Meaning that since died on the cross the old us that sin also died because he took that and pinned it on him. In doing so we received new life and that life should be Christ center so that everything revolves around Christ and not ourselves.

  5. 1) being crucified in Christ speaks to our faith in Christ

    2) and the way we demonstrate that faith as a Christian is by baptism. It is the act of complete faith in Christ by answering the call to shed our old self and put complete faith in him so that God will take over and make a new me.

    1. Malie tali. I’ll wait for others to join in… but you’re very warm - borderline hot - I’ll come back to check if there are any more brave souls to check in…

  6. Being crucified “with” Christ means dying to self. My new identity is in Him. Verse 20 is a beautiful declaration of our union with Christ. Verses 15-17, Paul re-emphasizes the truth of “justification by faith” - not by works of the Law, but by faith alone!

The sacrament of baptism (believers baptism) depicts this union publicly (in a physical act) to show the reality of our union with Christ (death, burial & resurrection).
