“Triumphant over the enemy”
Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of
them, triumphing over them in it – Colossians
2:15
God’s Broken Image
Salvation
6) On the cross He triumphed over Satan, and exposed him as our enemy
The image here is that of a conquering Roman general parading his
humiliated enemies behind his chariot. Satan can’t humiliate you! He was the
one being humiliated and exposed as a fraud on the cross! This truth is
important for Christians today. We can’t let the evil one have the upper hand
in tricking us with lies and deceptions regarding our past or failures. We must
stand firm in who we are in Christ.
The finished work of Christ is forever! Forever forgiven. Forever
accepted in the beloved. Live victorious and free in Jesus Christ.
Challenge: what kind of
“spectacle” are you making in your daily life? Your “quiet” stand for Godly
character at work or school can be testimony. If the enemy ever tries to “show
you up”, remind him that he was made a spectacle (a shameful one) on the cross
by Christ and that he has nothing on you…that has not been covered by the
blood!
This Day in Christian History:
Jan 22, 1793 – death of John Berridge, preacher of the gospel who was known as “the old
devil” by the clergymen around Everton (a district of Liverpool in England).
They grumbled against him because he preached
to the people of their parishes—souls they had neglected. His epitaph, which he
wrote himself, described him as an “itinerant servant of Jesus Christ, who
loved his master and his work, and after running on his errands many years was called
to wait on him above.” It
then asked, “Reader, are you born again?”
Memory Verse: (Sun Jan 22)
Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand – Ephesians 6:13

talitu‘u ‘i he ‘aho ‘o e fai mai ‘a e kovi; pea kuo lava kotoa pē kae tu‘u pē
– ‘Efeso 6:13
