“Dead to sin, Alive in Christ to
God!”
For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the
life that He lives, He lives to God - Romans
6:10
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us
(for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”) – Galatians 3:13
God’s Broken Image
Salvation
We continue our look into the salvation provided by Christ.
2)
We share in His death to the dominion of sin (Rom 6:10)
3)
We take shelter from the wrath of God because he bore our guilt ( Gal
3:13)
Do you realize that you DON’T HAVE TO SIN? The
non-believer sins because he can’t help it. That’s all he knows to do. It’s in
his DNA. If he appears to do good, it is because he is not utterly bad because
even sinners have a general sense of morality. But the issue here is the “power”
to do God’s will is absent from the sinner because he is still dead in sin.
For those of us who are “IN Christ”, we share in His death and in His VICTORY
over sin! This is powerful knowledge! This knowledge is also shared by
the evil one. So he attacks us in our mind by planting seeds on doubt in us to
deceive us that we are weak and powerless to overcome the temptations over sin.
Temptation is one thing. But the GIVING IN to the temptation is in us to
overcome by STANDING our ground in WHO we ARE in CHRIST.
We also are GUILT FREE because Christ bore the WRATH of GOD! In Isaiah,
God was “PLEASED to CRUSH” the SON. What kind of God does that? The kind of God
who DOES NOT TOLERATE SIN! The Most Holy God of Israel. He requires His
righteousness to be satisfied and ONLY Christ was worthy to supply the
necessary condition. So on the cross HE BORE the FULL MEASURE of GOD’S WRATH
and was CRUSHED for our iniquities! So the next time Satan lies to you about
how you should “feel guilty” about a sin or weakness in your life, tell him to
crawl back into his hole because JESUS PAID IT ALL…and ALL to HIM you OWE!
Hallelujah!!
Challenge: Your power
over sin and Satan is not some artificial emotion of feeling you muster up, but
a conscious knowledge of the work of Christ in history and in your life
according to the WORD! Stand on his promises and WALK STRONG in it! NO FEAR!
