SCRIPTURE AS GUIDE

KO E FOLOFOLA KO E FAKATAUKEI

PSALM 119:32

I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding

SAAME 119:32

Te u lele ‘i he hala ‘o ho‘o ngaahi tu‘utu‘uni, ‘Oka ke ka fano hoku ‘atamai.

Sola Scriptura - Scripture Alone - Ko e Folofola´ pe

In describing the world as a mirror in which we ought to I behold God, I would not be understood to assert either that our eyes are sufficiently clear-sighted to discern what the fabric of heaven and earth represents, or that the knowledge to be hence attained is sufficient for salvation. And whereas the Lord invites us to Himself by the means of created things, with no other effect than that of thereby rendering us inexcusable, He has added (as was necessary) a new remedy, or at least by a new aid, He has assisted the ignorance of our mind.

For by the Scripture as our Guide and Teacher, He not only makes those things plain which would otherwise escape our notice but almost compels us to behold them, as if He had assisted our dull sight with spectacles. This herald therefore approaches, who excites our attention, in order that we may perceive ourselves to be placed in this scene, for the purpose Of beholding the glory of God; not indeed to observe them as mere witnesses but to enjoy all the riches which are here exhibited as the Lord has ordained and subjected them to our use.

JOHN CALVIN

  2. Good morning Youth. My hope, as I will be going over with you all during out zoom call, is that we take the time to “break down” the day’s first to its basic element. Dig into it with the Holy Spirit’s help and with some basic English construction:

    Example: today’s verse

“I run” - my posture and my action. I am in motion.
“In the path” - the Psalmist in 139 speaks about a person who asks God to search him completely and to “lead him in the path everlasting” - this is our goal to stay in His path - to stay the course
“of your commands” - the path is not some random ideas of my own feelings or emotions - but God’s commands - no guess work - we have it - I run according to His Word
“for You” - everything that I am and do revolves around God, not self. For YOU!! You alone God!
“Have broaden” - He expands - stretches ( Fano, in Tongan) - in our walk, if we are not stretched, something is not right! This is growth - progress
“My understanding” - this is my personal hope & prayer for us all ! That our understanding of Scripture and the nature of God “broadens” - widens! Not so we can say, “look at me” - but that the world, may see Jesus in us!!

  4. 1-Teu lele ‘i he hala ‘o ho‘o ngaahi tu‘utu‘uni
Not walk, jog, speed walking or take my sweet time but RUN. Not run on my own understanding and path i set for myself or whichever path i want BUT today's verse, reminded me to run on the path of his command. When he says go i need to go, not question his command amd try to be fiepoto but to get up and go.

And when i do he expand my understanding. If I don't my understanding would be limited to what i know.

So most important today that i follow the right path which is his command and he will reward me by expand my understanding.

    .... fano hoku ‘atamai.
