OBSERVE THE SCRIPTURES

TAUHI ‘A E LAU ‘A E FOLOFOLA

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

JAMES 1:22

Ka mou hoko ko e kau fai ki he folofola, ‘o ‘ikai ko e kau fanongo pē, ‘o mou kākaa‘i kimoutolu.

SEMISI 1:22

Sola Scriptura - Scripture Alone - Ko e Folofola´ pe

The Scriptures are full of wondrous things. Those histories which are too commonly read as if they were only private concerns of particular persons, such as of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph; of Ruth, Joshua, the Judges, David, and the Israelitish princes, are accounts of vastly greater things, things of greater importance and more extensive concernment, than they who read them are commonly aware of.

The histories of Scripture are but too commonly read, as if they were written only to entertain men's fancies, when the infinitely great things contained in them are passed over without notice.

He that has a Bible and does not observe what it contains is like a man who has a box full of silver and gold, and does not know it, nor observe that it is anything more than a vessel filled with common stones. He will be never the better for his treasure and so might well be without it. He who has plenty of the choicest food stored up in his house and does not know it will never taste what he has, and will be as likely to starve as if his house were empty.

JONATHAN EDWARDS

  1. In everything you do be open minded about it. Things that happen in life doesn’t always have one meaning to it. For example, when I drive in the freeway and see an accident I tell myself that I needa be careful driving, that person was probably on his/her phone, the person behind the first car wasn’t paying attention, someone was driving too fast etc. We go through life reading the Bible and only choosing the blessing we want instead of owning all the lessons we get from one verse in the Bible. We have our blessings right in front of us yet we fail to notice that it’s always there but it’s waiting for us to see it for what it is🙏🏼

  2. His word are merely just that words. They become more then words when have real world application into our daily lives. If I simply just read and not do what the Bible says then of what use is it. Read the Bible, listen to the Bible, apply the Bible.

    1. The Word of God is inspired! It is the breath of God. Whether or not its applied has nothing to do with its validity!

This verse is an indictment on man (me) for not living by it! I deceive myself for not following it. I am the one losing out! God’s Word is constant and will never fade! But even if the world casts it aside and burn it (as they have in centuries past and still to this day) God’s very words live on and by His providence - will preserve it and honor it - even when we dishonor it by our disobedience and our own self-deception.
