MIGHTY IN THE SCRIPTURES
MALOHI ‘I HE FOLOFOLA
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
COLOSSIANS 3:16
Ke mātu‘aki nofo‘ia kimoutolu ‘e he folofola ‘a Kalaisi, ‘o tu‘u ‘i he fa‘ahinga poto kotoa pē: ‘o mou fefai‘aki homou akonekina mo e valoki ‘aki ‘a e ngaahi Saame, mo e ngaahi himi, mo e ngaahi hiva fakalaumālie, ‘o fai fakakelesi pē, mo mou hiva ‘i homou loto ki he ‘Eiki.
KOLOSE 3:16
Sola Scriptura - Scripture Alone - Ko e Folofola´ pe
Let us be thoroughly well acquainted with the great doctrines of the Word of God, and let us be mighty in expounding the Scriptures. I am sure that no preaching will last so long, or build up a church so well, as the expository. To renounce altogether the hortatory discourse for the expository would be running to a preposterous extreme; but I cannot too earnestly assure you that, if your ministries are to be lastingly useful, you must be expositors.
For this purpose, you must understand the Word yourselves, and be able so to comment upon it that the people may be built up by the Word. Be masters of your Bibles, brethren; whatever other works you have not searched, be at home with the writings of the prophets and apostles. "Let the Word of God dwell in you richly."
Having given that the precedence, neglect no field of knowledge. The presence of Jesus on the earth has sanctified the whole realm of nature; and what He has cleansed, call not you common. All that your Father has made is yours, and you should learn from it.

Expository preaching vs. Thematic preaching
ReplyDeleteGood morning Youth. Today’s topic deals with the type of preaching that, according to Spurgeon, is more enduring. Expository preaching takes you on an expedition through Scripture. You allow the text to dictate the direction of the message rather than the topic. There is nothing wrong with topical preaching - also needed. But the staple needs to be proper exposition of the Word.
ReplyDeleteDon’t feel like this is only for preachers - it also applies to us as students of God’s Word. We must allow God to speak to us - we take out what is there (exegesis) We do not put in (eisegesis) what we want or think.
Living as those made alive in Christ ….. how ? By being richly rooted and immersed in scripture alone. There isn’t any other way. Father thank you
ReplyDeleteWhen we are rooted and understand the Gods scriptures for ourselves we allow God to speak to us instead of us making scriptures what we think or make it be . This made me continue to pay closer attention to context.
DeleteHow can we preach or share the Word of God if we don’t understand it ourselves?
ReplyDeleteWe need to be rooted in the Word and ask questions when something doesn’t make sense because we don’t want to go out into the world and share the Word of God and not understand what we’re sharing. Make an effort to understand the Word 💯🙏🏼
Yes Peteli & 4GraceAlone! Today’s verse is so key! It actually supports what we talked about regarding meditation. If the Word richly dwells in us, then we have given the Holy Spirit what is needed to establish us in Christ. Wisdom, teaching, encouragement, singing - which is true and Biblical worship!
ReplyDeleteI understand expository teaching from watching and listening to a lot of preacher which but the disconnect is not knowing your audience so the information although is wonderful doesn't resonate. It's not an easy task.
ReplyDeleteWatching my dad preach has taught me a great deal. He spends a lot of time researching and reading inn order to prepare for a malanga. The wealth of knowledge he father's is overwhelming and he could be talking above our heads but he somehow managed to find a way to translate those information clearly. He uses a lot stories and life experiences which catches the attention and help the audience understand the message which then resonates with them.
Today's lesson taught me 3 things.
1) fill our lives with Christ richness
2) teach and counsel with wisdom
3) sing with a thankful heart.
These 3 are related.
I have to include God in every aspect of my life, work, school, hobbies and not just Sunday. When we spend a lot of time with someone we pick up on their habits, personalities, mannerism etc... When we spend and include God in every part of our lives we receive wisdom into what he wants, his likes and dislikes. With that wisdom we then teach and counsel others. By doing so God will be pleased and so are we which then deserves a celebration whether is singing it dancing or in my case eating. My go to celebration.
Have a wonderful day.
