EXALT THE WORD

HIKI HAKE ‘A E FOLOFOLA´

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons

ACTS 10:34 KJV

Pea ofa‘aki ‘e Pita ‘ene lea ‘o ne pehē, Tā ko ‘ene toki mahino mai ē kiate au, ‘oku ‘ikai ke filifilimānako ‘a e ‘Otua:

NGAUE 10:34

Sola Scriptura - Scripture Alone - Ko e Folofola´ pe

We are talking about the Word of God now, and the truth of the Gospel. That Gospel is more excellent than all apostles. God accepteth no man's person. Peter is quoting Moses: "Thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty" (Leviticus 19:15). This quotation from Moses ought to shut the mouths of the false apostles.

“Don't you know that God is no respecter of persons" cries Peter. The dignity or authority of men means nothing to God. The fact is that God often rejects just such who stand in the odor of sanctity and in the aura of importance. In doing so God seems unjust and harsh. But men need deterring examples. For it is a vice with us to esteem personality more highly than the Word of God. God wants us to exalt His Word and not men. There must be people in high office, of course. But we are not to deify them. The governor, the mayor, the preacher, the teacher, the scholar, father, mother, are persons whom we are to love and revere, but not to the extent that we forget God.

  1. Glory to God for he loves you and I all the same whether we live in a house or on the street, whether a Jew or Gentile, whether our bank account starts with a plus or starts with a negative.
We are fortunate to serve a wonderful and loving God.
    Amen

  2. We are blessed in the sense that God doesn’t only praise those with titles. If that were the case many of us would be lost. God loves all and because of this we are truly blessed to be in His presence.

Thank You Lord for not abandoning a lowly servant like me, and for loving us all the same.

  3. God shows NO partiality not even when it comes to his chosen people the Israelites.
God saw no barriers between Cornelius (the gentile or non Jew) and Peter ( the Jew or his chosen people)
I loved reading the very beginning of this chapter because I never knew about the story of Cornelius of Caeserea. (Or mayby I did but I seriously forgot lol.)
Although this was a new read for me it was very clear from the beginning that Cornelius wasn’t a Jew (Why that stood out to me idk but it did) then I kept reading and the Bible made it very clear that Cornelius and his family were devout God fearing people .
Cornelius loved the Lord so much that he immediately obeyed what the Lord told him to do without hesitation. ( to me Cornelius’s relationship with our Lord was that of a Child completely depending and hanging on to every word of their parents, so trusting. This was endearing to me.)
After Cornelius obeyed the Lord and fetched Peter . Peter learned from God through His vision not to call things the Lord has made clean impure (Acts 10;15)

Like our verse today and cont. to verse 35.
    34) Peter soon learned “how true it is that God does not show favoritism. 35)but accepts from every nation the one who fears Him and does what is right.

Wether Jew or Gentile , race , height , social status God shows no partiality nor cares about any of these things but our heart.
Lastly God also reminds us never to idolize those we love or look up to more than Christ (Never) . A great example of this is (Acts. 10 vs 25-26) when Peter finally arrived at Cornelius’s home , Cornelius fell to the ground out of respect for Gods chosen apostle yet Peter told him get up and reminded Cornelius he is only merely a man. Though Cornelius meant well and what he did wasn’t wrong this checked me real quick to always fix my heart on the Lord nothing else.
