MEDITATE ON THE WORD

FAKALAULAULOTO ‘I HE FOLOFOLA´

I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.

PSALM 119:15

Te u fakalauloto ki ho‘o ngaahi fekau na, Pea te u tokanga‘i ho ngaahi hala.

SAAME 119:15

Sola Scriptura - Scripture Alone - Ko e Folofola´ pe

Our bodies are not supported by merely taking food into the mouth, but the process which really supplies the muscle, and the nerve, and the sinew, and the bone, is the process of digestion. It is by digestion that the outward food becomes assimilated with the inner life. Our souls are not nourished merely by listening a while to this, and then to that, and then to the other part of divine truth. Hearing, reading, marking, and learning all require inwardly digesting to complete their usefulness, and the inward digesting of the truth lies for the most part in meditating upon it.

Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord, and be this our resolve this morning, "I will meditate in thy precepts."

  1. You have to put in the work if you wanna see any change.

  2. There needs to be an intentional purpose in reading the Bible if growth is the goal.
I relate to the anatomy analogy in the lesson. With working out, I don't see any change in the first few weeks and it doesn't mean I quit. I have to show up everyday and put in the repetition and trust in the process and the results will take care of itself.
Show up everyday and read your Bible(process) with intention(meditation) and it will not be going through the motion but love because you'll see God's work in your life.

  3. Thank you everyone for your contribution to our comments section. We have another way of interaction in the USA page on Luvu's post. We are blessed to have outlets for our sharing to help sharpen ourselves as God's instruments in the world.

Meditation is the "red-head stepchild" (sorry to all the red-heads) of the Christian disciplines, but so vital to our growth. When people think of meditation, they assume the world's image, of someone sitting cross-legged and zoning out until his mind has gone blanked! Then all kinds of suggestions enter and take over. Not so with Christ-centered biblical meditation! We are to fill our minds with the Word and allow God's Holy Spirit to mold us to be more like Jesus.
