Sola Scriptura - Scripture Alone - Ko e Folofola´ pe
It is a main part of our religion humbly to accept what God has revealed. Perhaps the highest form of adoration possible, on this side the vale, is the bowing of our entire mental and spiritual being before the revealed mind of God; the kneeling of the understanding in that sacred presence whose glory causes angels to veil their faces. Let those who please to do so, worship science, reason, and their own clear judgments; it is our delight to prostrate ourselves before the Lord our God, and to say, "This God is our God forever and ever: He will be our guide even unto death."
Rally to the old standard. Fight to the death for the old Gospel, for it is your life. Whatever forms of expression you may use as you advance in knowledge, ever keep the cross of Jesus Christ in the forefront, and let all the blessed truths which gather around it be heartily maintained.

The author of this passage is the apostle Peter. He is imprisoned in Rome at the time and he realizes he will be executed soon. Many false prophets were going around preaching that Jesus wasn’t going to return, which caused many to live immoral lives. So Peter decides to write these letters to the people addressing the false claims of these false prophets. In this third and final section of his letters, he explains that Jesus’ return is delayed because God is giving everyone time to repent. He warns everyone that God will come like a thief in the night, so they must be sure to stay prepared and ready for His return.
ReplyDeleteThe author wants us to know that we can only stay up on this road least taken if we continue to grow ourselves in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. The author wants us to live our life right and to live it rooted in the hope of Jesus’ return, for there is a new heaven and earth coming, where righteousness dwells.
What I’ve learned about God from today’s scripture is that man He loves us all so much. He’s given us all this time to repent and prepare, because He can’t stand to see any of us fall to destruction. What I’ve learned about myself is that I’m a sinner and I don’t deserve His love. But like Peter was saying, I gotta keep growing myself in the grace and knowledge of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The more I engross myself in His word and absorb His love and grace for a sinner like me, the more my mind is renewed and I’m changed from within to wanna live right. And that’s what I gotta keep doing cause I realize when I stray away, I fall to old habits and let negative thoughts creep in that try to strip me of my worth in Christ.
Praise God! Thank you Leti for sharing!
DeletePeter was imprisoned at this time awaiting his execution. Knowing this he decides to write letters to inform the church to be equipped and ready. As Peter says we must continue to grow ourselves in our walk with the Lord daily.
