GOSPEL DOCTRINE

KO E TOKATELINE ‘O E KOSIPELI

JOHN 20:31

These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

SIONE 20:31

ka kuo tohi ‘eni koe‘uhi ke mou tui KO SĪSŪ KO E MĪSAIA IA, KO E ‘ALO ‘O E ‘OTUA: pea ‘i ho‘omou tui ke mou ma‘u mo‘ui ‘i hono HUAFA.

Sola Scriptura - Scripture Alone - Ko e Folofola´ pe

They have omitted nothing of that which is necessary to salvation. And when we say that the apostles and evangelists have faithfully recorded all the doctrine of the Gospel, we understand they have truly added nothing of their own as far as the substance of the doctrine is concerned, but they have obeyed with precision and simplicity what the Lord had said to them: “Go, preach all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:20).

Saint Paul (Acts 20:27; Galatians 1:9) and Saint Peter (1 Peter 1:25) testify how conscientious they have been and how particular in this area. That is why Saint Jerome, writing on this subject, says, "Chatter and babbling must not be believed without the authority of Holy Scripture." And Saint Augustine says even more clearly, "It is true that the Lord Jesus did many things which have not all been written down; for the Evangelist himself testifies that Jesus Christ said and did much that has not been written down. But God has chosen to have written down those things which are sufficient for the salvation of those who believe."

  1. Dear Youth, I hope you are following our A.M. with eagerness and gratefulness to our Lord for His provisions...

Today's focus will be on the "L" of PLOW - "Lesson" = what is the "theme" (knowledge) and "aim" (action)

    1) What is the MAIN GOAL (theme) of the writing of the gospel according to John (today's verse)?
    2) What is the AIM of the goal and outcome?
    3) "Bonus" - What is the overall truth that binds this theme & action (outcome)? Without this, #1 & #2 would not be possible?

**PLEASE COMMENT BELOW WITH YOUR RESPONSES OR GO TO THE USA FB PAGE AND COMMENT IN TODAY'S POST OF THE ALPHA MAAMA** (don't forget to tag me when you do)

  2. 1) the main goal of today's verse is for us to believe in the written word. To believe in the doctrine and everything that is written in it because God has chosen what is necessary to be written for our salvation.
    2) the aim and goal is for everyone to have life( salvation) in Jesus. This is the promise we receive from God. If we believe in Jesus Christ with all our hearts, mind and soul then we will have life and ultimately everlasting life.
    3) The overall truth that binds it together is Jesus Christ. Without him the word would not have been written and without his resurrection there would not be a reason to believe.

    1. Thank you. I was beginning you guys were out to lunch, Lol

Going forward - I want you all to keep in mind to make a distinction between "theme" and "aim" - its not a big deal - but "theme" would be the "knowledge" (what we need to know) and the "aim" is what we need to "do." They are intertwined but important to understand.

You are also welcome to "expand" and DO all the "LETTERS" of "PLOW" - I highlight different aspects as a way to invite engagement.

Malo - your "prize" is noted and recorded. A little incentive makes this fun.

I don't know if i am doing it right but i tried to apply to SPECK.

    1. Thank you. That works too. There are no magic way but as long as we are "digging" into His Word with diligence and remain faithful to what God has already revealed to us.

  5. Theme - Christs resurrection

Aim - to believe or have faith in Christ beyond our doubts and circumstances.

Overall Truth - Christ’s physical resurrection is the foundation of our faith. If Jesus had not been raised from the dead, our faith would have been worthless. You & I would still be living in sin without any knowledge what salvation is.
