ASK – SEEK - KNOCK
KOLE - KUMI - TUKITUKI
(v. 7-11) 7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

*Commentary: The NIV Study Bible*
7:7-11 Ask. Disciples should come to God in humility
and awareness of need. Seek connects one's prayer with responsible action in
pursuing the will of God. Knock suggests perseverance. Disciples are to persist in
prayer, confident that their Father will provide whatever is best for them,
according to his sovereign, gracious will.
Ask, Seek & Knock sounds simple right?
ReplyDeleteGrowing up I was always taught that if I wanted something I needed to ask, and I would either get it or not. Sometimes when my siblings and I wanted to go somewhere my siblings would tell me to go ask because my dad always said yes to me 🤣 Majority of the time it was a yes. The scary part was knocking on my dads room to actually ask for what we wanted, but when he opened and said yes I would remember thinking why was it so scary in the first place to ask.
Seeking God every morning has become a routine that I’ve come to enjoy because it sets the tone for my day. When I get my command for the day I remind myself throughout the day what the devotion was about in the morning, and ask God to help me obey His word throughout the day. Seeking God isn’t always easy because I remember how I use to make up all the excuses in the world not to make time for God. In Math. 6:33 God gives us the command to Seek Him and He will provide for you, and I remind myself of this verse a lot when I struggle to find answers for any decision I have to make. Lastly is knocking on the door. God knocks on our heart daily and it’s up to us to open up to Him. He’s become my best friend in my time of need, and I remind myself that He’s not just there when I need something and I make an effort to seek Him for help, ask Him for forgiveness and thankfulness when He blesses me and I open my whole heart to Him in anything thing I do.
It may seem like a chore to do your devotions, and if this is the case then you need to seek Him even more, Ask for guidance and He will open the door for you if you simply knock! 🙏🏼
Thank you Peteli <3
ReplyDeleteReading our devotions this morning was a continual reminder for me of you get what you put in. If I feel far from Christ its my own fault for not seeking Him , When I feel confused or weary did I ask Him for direction ? when I am not baring good fruits do I give up or keep on keeping on by knocking !. If I want growth and good results in growth I have a responsibility to do my part. All things I know already but I choose not to , out of fear , pride ect. all things God is working on me with. Lord keep me vulnerable , hungry, seeking, humbled as I do my part Amen.
