Get wisdom
Fakatau ma‘au ‘a e poto
Palovepi 4-5 (Proverbs 4-5)
(4:7) The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.
(4:7)
Ko e kamata ke poto ‘a‘eni: Fakatau ma‘au ‘a e poto: ‘Io, neongo ‘oku ke

*Commentary: The Reformatio Study Bible*
4:7 The beginning of wisdom. This embrace of the need for wisdom goes hand in hand with the fear of the Lord as the beginning of wisdom (1:7) for it is only in fearing God that we realize our need for wisdom.
whatever you get. Jesus used a similar saying about how one should seek
the kingdom of God (Matt. 13:45, 46).
*Tohi Vete: Tohitapu Ako ‘a e Fakalelei Lotu*

I’ve always been taught to fear the Lord in all I do because if I don’t fear Him I could be walking down a path that isn’t good for me or my family. I thank God for Rising again so that I could be Saved!!! Seek God and know that fearing GOD is a good thing. It could save you from going to hell!
ReplyDeleteTo possess wisdom and insight can be more valuable to you than anything else. The wisdom you have the better and clearer you’ll see your life. We can say the same when we seek God. Wisdom is God telling us how we should handle and take care of our personal lives and obstacles we come across. Always seek and understand more and more wisdom, especially from the most high.
ReplyDeleteTranslation are sometimes same, sometimes different. English: You have to get wisdom. Tongan: You have to purchase wisdom.
ReplyDeleteIn the case of todays reading I interpret it as an action word. Majority of Christians always use the, "I'll pray about it" line but never actually doing anything about it. They believe the things they pray for will fall into their lap without any effort. The same apply to todays lesson.
Everyone wants to gain "wisdom" in whatever form that may be but seldom few ever pay the price to acquire it. Its been proven that a person could teach oneself the necessary wisdom in any field without attending any educational institution except you wont have the paper to show for.
If we want to gain wisdom we must make an effort to gain it. Whether through reading, attending seminars, podcast or submit and listen to those who have the knowledge we must show God that we mean business. You reap what you sow.
Remember that any time “wisdom” shows up in Proverbs - its a “signal” for something greater. The something greater always ends up at the front door of Christ - the fulfillment (incarnation) of wisdom 1 Cor 1:24. So, read on by be careful not to pour into the Proverbs worldly or common understanding. Also remember that these are poetry - not to be taken literally - but always keep in mind that “Woman Wisdom” finds ultimate fulfillment in Christ - and “Woman Folly” would be idol worship - rejection of Christ and His ways.
DeleteHumbled by today's reading. I realize how much wisdom I lack and take for granted or I tend to turn a deaf ear to. Lord thank you for your constant stretching of me even though it sucks (lol). I also thank the Lord for his SAVING GRACE (LOL) because I probably would not know what an immoral woman is let alone be unsaved and not have the biblical WISDOM to know that I was one so AAAAAMEN for salvation . Lastly , today's reading reminded me that true wisdom starts from a healthy fear of the Lord. (Lord im sorry that you have to keep re-teaching me these biblical truths into my thick head) - Amen
