Preparing your heart for prayer
(teuteu‘i ho lotó  ‘i ho‘o lotú )

Fehu‘i #39

Ko e hā ‘a e loto ‘oku totonu ke fai‘aki ‘etau lotú ?
Mei he loto ‘ofa, tuiaki mo e hounga‘ia, ‘i he fakatōkilalo mo e fakavaivai ki he finangalo ‘o e ‘Otuá, ‘i he ‘ilopau, koe‘uhí  ko Kalaisi, ‘oku ne ongona ma‘u pe ‘etau lotú.

With what attitude should we pray?
With love, perseverance, and gratefulness, in humble submission to God's will, knowing that, for the sake of Christ, he always hears our prayers.

FILIPAI 4:6
Neongo pe ko e hā ‘a e me‘a, ‘oua te mou lotomo‘ua ai; ka ‘i he me‘a kotoa pē tuku ke hā ki he ‘Otua ho‘omou ngaahi kole, ‘i he lotu mo e hūfia, pea fai mo e fakafeta‘i.

PHILIPPIANS 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Commentary - JOHN BUNYAN (cont…)

“To make thy preparation complete, consider that thou art but dust and ashes, and he the great God, Father of our Lord Christ, that clothes himself with light as with a garment; that thou art a vile sinner, he a holy God; that thou art but a poor crawling worm, he the omnipotent Creator. In all your prayers forget not to thank the Lord for his mercies. When thou prayest, rather let thy heart be without words, than thy words without a heart. Prayer will make a man cease from sin, or sin will entice a man to cease from prayer.”

Tanaki atu eni ke fakakakato‘aki ho‘o teuteu ki he lotú ; manatu‘i ko e efu pe koe mo e efuefu, ko Iaá  ko e ‘Otua Lahi, Tamai ‘a hotau ‘Eiki ko Sisu Kalaisí, ‘oku ne fai teunga‘aki ‘a e maamá ko hono kofu tu‘a; ko koé  ko e angahala palakū fau; ko Iaá  ko e ‘Otua toputapu; ko koé  ko e kelemutu; ko Iaá  ko e Tupu‘anga mafimafi. ‘I ho‘o tautapá, manatu‘i ke ke fakamālō‘ia ‘a e ngaahi meesi ‘a e ‘Otuá. ‘I ho‘o lotú, ‘e ngutuhua ange ke hala ho lotó  ‘i ha lea, ‘i ha pasangasanga ho‘o le‘á  ta‘e ‘i ai ha laumālie. ‘E hanga ‘e he lotú  ‘o ta‘ofi ‘a e tangatá mei he angahalá, pe, ko hono fakatauele‘i ‘e he angahalá  ‘a e tangatá  ke ta‘e lotu.
