Ko e “sipinga” lotu na‘e ako‘i ‘e he ‘Eikí
(the model prayer that Jesus taught )

Fehu‘i #41

Ko e hā ‘a e lotu ‘a e ‘Eikí ?
Ko ‘emau Tamai ‘oku ‘i Hevani, ke tāpuhā ho huafa, ke hoko mai ho‘o pule, ke fai ho finangalo. Hangē ko ia ‘i he langí, ke pehē foki ‘i mamani. Foaki mai he ‘aho ni ha‘amau me‘akai ki ‘anai. What is the Lord's Prayer?
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily your bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil

MATIU 6:9
Ko ia ke peheni ha‘amoutolu lotu: “Ko ‘emau Tamai ‘oku ‘i Hēvani, ke tāpuhā ho Huafa…”

MATTHEW 6:9
Pray then like this: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your
name..."

Commentary - JUAN SANCHEZ

When Jesus's disciples asked him to teach them to pray, Jesus gave them a model prayer. We call it the Lord's Prayer, but really it's the Lord's model prayer. It is the way Jesus taught his disciples to pray.

When we say, "Our Father," we remember that the God who created the universe is our Father in heaven. He is the Father who provides. He is the Father who sustains. He is the Father who protects.
And the prayer reminds us that we are able to run to our Father to let our needs be known.

‘I he taimi na‘e kole ange ai ‘e he kau akó  kia Sisu ke ako‘i kinautolu ki he lotú, na‘e ‘oange ‘e Sisu ‘a e lotu ko e sīpinga. ‘Oku tau ui eni, ko e Lotu ‘a e ‘Eiki, ka ko hono fakalea mahino angé, ko e sipinga lotu ‘a e ‘Eiki. Ko e founga lotu na‘e ako‘i ‘e Sisu ki he‘ene kau akó.

‘I he taimi ‘oku tau pehē ai, “Ko ‘emau Tamai”, ‘oku tau manatu‘i ko e ‘Otua na‘a ne fakatupu ‘a e ‘univeesí, ko ‘etau tamai ia ‘oku ‘i hevani. Ko e Tamai ia ‘oku ne tokonaki ‘etau fiema‘ú. Ko e Tamai ia ‘oku ne pukepuke ‘a e me‘a kotoa. Ko e Tamai ia ‘oku ne malu‘i kitautolu. Pea ‘oku fakamanatu kitautolu ‘e he ki‘i lotú, ‘oku malava ke tau hola ki he‘etau Tamaí ‘o tala ki ai ‘etau ngaahi fiema‘ú.
